The whole purpose for going to Vegas was to attend the WPPI conference. WPPI is the annual conference for wedding and portrait photographers. Most wedding photographers and vendors anticipate this event every year. Some guys even book their travel arrangements as soon as WPPI releases next year’s dates.
This is my second year in attendance. I absorbed a ton of information last year and there’s always something new to learn. The day typically starts from 8am to roughly about 10p, depending if you want to attend the evening activities. It’s a great place to get new inspiration from photographers of all flavors. Among the few workshops I attended were focused on news photojournalism, fashion photography and travel or destination weddings.
I had some time to chat with a few folks like celebrity photographer Joe Buissink. He shared his portfolio along with his passion for wedding photography. He shot weddings for Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Lopez to name a few.
I also chatted with fashion and celebrity photographer Matthew Jordan Smith after his workshop. You may know him from the reality show America’s Top Model. I found him very personable as he shared his experiences and approach to fashion and celebrity photography.
One of my album vendors, GraphiStudio, is releasing new products which I look forward to offering to my clients later this year. I touched base with the Director of Marketing to express my excitement and share some ideas.
