Oahu, Hawai’i Island Tour

We had less than 5 days to spend in Hawai’i excluding travel days and we had to make every minute count in exploring this paradise destination. We were using points to cover our accommodations for this leg of the trip. We stayed at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa as well as the Moana Surfrider Westin Resort & Spa. Both of these beach front hotels were offered great accommodations for our family of 4 with two little girls. Since this was the first week of January, the temperature at the time of  our trip wasn’t too hot. Therefore, our time in the ocean was very limited due to the less than ideal cooler temps.

After spending our first day in Waikiki, we were ready to getaway from the huge crowds with a self guided island tour. We opted to rent a car to explore the attractions along the eastern coast line of Oahu. Parking could be hard to find at some of the sites, so we ended up skipping those on our itinerary and forged ahead to the next attraction. Some of the sites we covered include Diamond Head State Park, Spitting Cave, Halona Blowhole, Byodo-In Temple, Macadamia Nut Farm, Kahuku Superette (Food Trucks) and watched the sunset at the North Shore. Needless to say it was a long and tiring day, but we had a great sampling of eastern side of the island.
